The definition of gelato, or sometimes referred to as the plural gelati, is "a rich ice cream, made with eggs and usually containing a relatively low percentage of butterfat." Our gelato base is made of whole milk, heavy cream, egg yolks, and sugar. Then we add only the best and freshest ingredients.
Because gelato is lower in butterfat, it has up to 50% fewer calories than ice cream or custard, yet the cooking process still gives it rich texture and mouthfeel.
Sorbet is "a dessert consisting of frozen fruit juice or flavored water and sugar." We use the finest quality ingredients: fresh fruit, freshly squeezed fruit juice, and/or organic fruit juice. We keep our simle syrup to a ratio of 4 parts water to 3 parts sugar. Sorbet is fat free and usually has about one-quarter the calories of ice cream (about 100 calories per serving). It is a great alternative for those who can't eat dairy.
